The Challenge

Several times a big company develops new applications and studies that use their databases in order to get some profits; for example, a supermarket uses the database of our fidelizaotion cards to get information of our habits of shopping, or as a way to know where is the people that comes to buy their products.

As everybody can imagine, it isn’t the supermarket itself that develops the program, they contract another company to do it. But what happen when they must test the application? How do they use my personal information?

In the same line we have medical centers, as it’s CATSalut, how can they transfer my medical information (without my permission) to another company that will develop their applications? My personal information (that means diseases, for example) can be check, read for someone else that isn’t my doctor?

The Solution

My work, as an analyst and developer of STAITEC, was to elaborate the requirements and necessities of its database (preproduction) with the goal to get a final and anonymous database. And finally, to develop and setup their database to run the scripts of the whole process.

The solution was developed in collaboration with ORACLE, the database providers of the health department.

Results

The preproduction database of the department was anonimized in level 1.
